CCMS Meeting Minutes
Cherokee County Music Society Meeting Minutes - October 2, 2007
Cherokee County Music Society Foundation
- Name announced - chosen and voted name submission by Kevin Carlson - CDs presented
- Discussed purpose and that our first project would be mentoring and sponsoring a child by providing instrument lessons, studio lessons, songwriting lessons, transportation to and from, bringing child to mentor's shows
- Nancy Bennett said she knows of a child in need (Timmy, 12 years old, attends Hickory Flat Elementary)
- It was suggested we refrain from using "charity" and use the words sponsoring & mentorship instead
- Suggested that we utilize the Up The Creek program for 15% donation of food total to Foundation - flyer passed around
Band Rotation Night
- Mike Alton suggested contacting Wes Faulkner to get into Slapshots
- Other venues suggested included Theatre House, Malia's Mug (more for a songwriters night), Downtown Kitchen (photos/paintings by Ronnie Wood) & Donnelly's Music (may have a warehouse available for use)
Membership
- Increase membership by asking higher profile recording artists in Cherokee County to get involved
- Mike Alton suggested that Terri Flynn at Gothertunes might be able to help
Merchandising
- Discussed types of merchandising we should have - suggestions included coffee mugs, t-shirts, stickers, guitar picks
- Nancy, Carol and others said they would check rates on tshirts with their contacts
CCMS Showcase
- Announced showcase would be planned for November
Holiday Gathering
- Kevin suggested sending emailer to members to ask about availability
- Kevin suggested holding event on Saturday afternoon
Songwriters Nights
- Venue possibility Malia's Mug
CCMS CD Compilation
- Expected release date in January 2008
- Seeking funding and will need donations
- Proceeds will go the CCMS Foundation
Committees
- Announced that emails will be sent out to introduce committee members to each other
- Additional members signed up
- Kevin suggested we combine Fundraising and Sponsorship committees
Meetings
- Should try secular venues
- Should try venues in Canton
