CCMS Meeting Minutes Cherokee County Music Society Meeting Minutes - January 10, 2008Anouncements - LLC has been completed. The Outer Edge will be partnering with CCMS and supporting our events, such as having a banner at each of our showcases. Ronnie spoke about a benefit concert that he is hosting on March 2nd for the Matt Brown Memorial. The money will go toward a tombstone for Matt's grave site. Ronnie mentioned that he will have about $2,200 worth of stuff to raffle off. Sandy and Mark mentioned that they will check on Downtown Kitchen to see if we can start having our showcase there. It is my understanding tht Downtown Kitchen usually likes to have events on Friday and Saturday Nights. Ronnie mentioned that he has several shows coming up and one of them is at Bogey's and he is to speak with the owners at Bogey's to see if we can possibly have our showcases there sometime in the future. Kerry mentioned something about the Wild West Saloon. Kerry is to speak with Steve Folsom who is the owner to see if we can maybe have something there as well in the near future. Ronnie mentioned that there is a place called Live@I575 (formerly Slashots) that we maybe could play. Several people mentioned having a jar a the door for donations. Discussed charging at the Showcase/Benefits. Ronnie spoke about a charity that he has come up with called Donations for Dreams, which also happens to be similar to what Sandy and Mark have already wanted to do for CCMS. It was discussed that we would work with Ronnie about coming together and doing a charity event possibly for this. Sandy mentioned that we need to sponsor a child in need for the Foundation. This will be helping a child from the beginning to the end, such as every aspect a child will need to become a singer/songwriter/musician. The child will then perform at one of our showcases. Sandy mentioned that the Visibility Team will need to promote the upcoming showcases and that we will need to contact local media to get our name out there. The team will need to start making phone calls and getting contacts. Ronnie is a great phone person and he said that he will help with the Visibility Team so that we can get the CCMS name out there. Sandy mentioned that we will have another singer/songwriter night coming up March 16, the Venue has not yet been named. CCMS will be partnering with The Outer Edge (part of the Cherokee Post) and they will be helping us to promote our showcases. The Outer Edge will be doing an online newsletter for CCMS. A songwriter circle was mentioned and Mike Alton will be in charge of this but more details will follow at a later date. There was discussion regarding doing a Christian Day of music because we do have several members that sing and play Christian music. Hopefully the church that Frank and Jeanne French attend will be able to accommodate us on the day that we would like to have the event. Kerry mentioned that Amy Cline is the person who handles all of the Entertainment in Canton, this includes the ready made festivals that happen each year. CCMS would like to become part of these events. There was discussion regarding getting a printer and copier to use because of the high volume of information that we do need to print out. Kerry mentioned that he will talk to Chris Chandler of Chandler Graphics so see if they will help with banners and such. Sandy mentioned that is is important that we increase the Visibility and membership. We need to do more to get people to show up at our events and meetings. Sandy mentioned having a BMI showcase or ASCAP showcase in the future. There will be a chance that someone from Nashville will have to help out because Sandy is not getting a response from our local BMI office. There was alot talk about our organazation needing more exposure and Sandy asked if anyone had any ideas, but there was not any thrown on the table. Ronnie offered CCMS the use of his PA system for any future events. Joe offered to help with the sound. Joe's update with the membership committee - He has been making phone calls but not really getting the response that we need. Mark talked about doing a benefit such as... craft show, musician raffle, bake sale, just any type of small benefit to get people to come out and see what CCMS is all about. Mark mention possibly have a walk a thon as well. It is important that if you want to perform at the showcase events then you will need to pay your membership dues. Jim of Jaws Guitars was concerned about the CCMS only targeting songwriters but Sandy explained to him that we are targeting anyone and everyone that is involved in the Music business, whether they play an instrument, sing, record, manage, etc..... Sandy opened up the floor to any other discussion. Meeting adjourned. Meeting date: January 10, 2008 Carol Cloud, Secretary - CCMS Meeting adjourned 8:35PM |
