Perhaps there is a good reason why the Midwest is often referred to as The Heartland. The word “heart” often applies to the drive behind bands that emerge from this region. NineDollarMelonBaller bursts out from Cedar Falls, Iowa, and along with their “heart”, have put their sweat, passion, talent, and guts into their music. The band, formed by hard-working, dedicated musicians in the summer of ‘96, self-released their debut CD “Riding The Ephidrine Horse” in 1997.

The band’s driving force consists of Marc Barry; frontman, guitarist, vocalist, and drummer on the band’s CDs. Multi-talented Barry also pens the songs, searching his soul, reflecting on life experience and interaction with others for his lyrics. With a variety of musical influences consisting of Chick Corea, Sting and Chris Cornell, Barry fleshes out the sound with gritty guitar work. Brandon Mills moves in as the bassist with that power punch, twisting a snarling rhythm into the mix with Mike Linsey adding a phenomenal drum style to the band. NineDollarMelonBaller toured extensively in support of their third CD release “Seeing in the Dark” recorded at Catamount Studios. The CD contains songs with more of commercial pop/rock feel than its predecessor “I’ll give you something to cry about”. Yet, "I'll give you something to cry about" secured its place in artistic value and style with its snarling, hard-hitting, heavier rock tunes becoming favorites among MelonBaller fans.

The MelonBallers appeared on ESPN’s Pro Beach Hockey during the half-time ceremonies for the national championship games. Because this show aired six times on ESPN and ESPN2 as well as in 40 different countries and on the Internet, this is nothing to baulk at! The band has also landed a Jagermeister sponsorship and is featured on the Jager music web site at www.jagermusic.com as well as on the 2000 Jagermeister compilation CD. Their acoustic-driven song “Marco Polo” has been featured on two Columbine tribute CDs. Numerous selections from “I’ll give you something to cry about” have appeared on MTV’s Road Rules and the Disney Channel’s Z-Games, with music from “Seeing in the Dark”  included in the ABC series "Making the Band". Their song “Third Wheel” was chosen over thousands of indie artists to be featured on CD Baby’s first-ever MP3 compilation. USGIGTV.NET visitors voted the MelonBaller’s video “Ex” No. 2 across the globe.

NineDollarMelonBaller continues to be a film and tv licensing darling as the popularity of their music continues to grow.
